The Lord Fairfax Silver Chapter serves USAWOA members in the National Capitol Region. The chapter adheres to the USAWOA principles of "Professionalism, Representation, and Recognition" for the benefit of active Army, National Guard, Army Reserve, retired and former Army warrant officers and families. The designation "Silver" indicates that the Chapter has been in continuous existence since the USAWOA founding.

Regular Monthly Meetings, third Thursday of the month at the Kingstowne Library (corner of Telegraph Road and Beulah Road) starting at 1700 hours.  Come on out and be a part of the chapter planning and camaraderie. Occasionally meetings are held at other locations.

In addition to monthly meetings, the Chapter participates in Warrant Officer Professional Development (WOPD) Seminars, Retiree Recognition days, community service projects, the Adopt A Highway" program and hosts specific events at or, in some cases, the entire USAWOA Annual Meeting of the Members.

Virginia Adopt-a-Highway Program - Chapter and family members clean the Fairfax County Parkway, Route 7100, from U.S. Route 1 to the Interstate Route 95 overpass on the third Saturday of one month each quarter from 7:30 to noon. Participants meet at the Mosby Army Reserve Center on Kingman Road at the parkway. Family members and friends welcome. For more information contact CW5 (Ret) Dick Markle .

Upcoming Events

In addition to some follow-up work on our Rebuildling together Alexandria house on Sat, 10 May, we have two primary chapter activities scheduled for May.

On Thursday, 15 May starting at 1700 hours at the Kingstowne Library, (corner of Beulah and Telegraph Roads) is our monthly general membership meeting.  All chapter members and interested warrants in the area are invited to attend.

Then, weather permitting, on Sat, 17 May from 0900 to 1400 hours is our second fund raiser car wash at the Yates Kingstowne Sunoco station, (located across from Wal Mart and Kohls in the center of Kingstowne).  We will again need plenty of volunteer help for this event.  So that we can ensure adequate staffing, please, please let me know which hour or two you can help us.  Thanks for all you do for the chapter and the association!

Next Adopt-A-Highway cleanup will be on Sat, 7 June - weather permitting.

For your long range planning, Then on Saturday, 21 June and Saturday, 19 July we'll be at the Woodlawn Shell station at 8851 Richmond Highway.  Later, in March and April, we will be asking for volunteer help to cover the five hours that we plan to be washing cars at these locations.  Be thinking about when you can help us to make these much needed fund raisers a success for our chapter.
