Foundation Purpose

  • Incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia March 28, 2003

  • Federal Employer Identification Number issued April 3, 2003

  • Granted IRS 501(c)3 Non-Profit status in July 2003

  • Foundation approved for Combined Federal Campaign in August 2004

  • Granted an IRS Final Public Charity Ruling in 2008

    • Accepted by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management for the inclusion in the Fall 2011 Combined Federal Campaign as a member of Military Family and Veterans Service Organizations. CFC number is: 11871

The Foundation is organized and shall be administered and operated exclusively to receive, administer and expend funds and carry on programs for educational purposes, within the meaning of Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code or the corresponding provision of any future federal tax law, including, but not limited to, acquire funds and make distribution of those funds to qualified and eligible persons. The United States Army Warrant Officers Association Scholarship Foundation will focus on providing scholarships to qualified members and family members of warrant officers serving in or retired from the United States Army, the U. S. Army Reserve and the Army National Guard of the various states and territories. Due to the frequency of relocations many of these family members do not have the opportunity to develop relationships which would result in their gaining assistance in the growing costs of obtaining a college education.

Get SMART, Get Paid, and Get Ahead

The Science, Mathematics And Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program has been established by the Department of Defense (DoD) to support undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. The program aims to increase the number of civilian scientists and engineers working at DoD laboratories. Learn More.

 

The SMART Scholarship application is closed. The application is scheduled to reopen in August 2012.

Member and Family Member Scholarship Information

 

The USAWOA Scholarship Foundation conducts various fund raising events. Substantial portions of the proceeds are set aside for the scholarship program. From these funds the USAWOA Scholarship Foundation awards scholarships of not less than $1,000 each to deserving and qualified applicants. These scholarships have been funded in the past by the generous donations of CW4 (Ret) John & Jean Allnatt; the Carrie A. Clayburn Memorial Scholarship funded by CW3 Linda & CW4 Myles Clayburn; the 1st Lt. Thomas Martin Memorial Fund by CW5 Candis and Ed Martin; the Gina M. Scalzo Scholarship funded by CW5 (Ret) Richard and Mrs. Phyllis Scalzo; and the CW4 (Ret) Alfred Alexander Scholarship funded by CW4 (Ret) Alfred Alexander. This Scholarship Program is totally operated by the non-profit USAWOA Scholarship Foundation.

 

The window for submission of applications for all scholarships is January 1st to May 1st, each year.
