Richard C. “Dick” Markle, CW5
USA Retired,
was born Sep 29, 1946, Bellefonte, PA.
He was drafted into the US Army 4 December 1968,
and advanced to the grade of Staff Sergeant before being appointed a Warrant
Officer 1 in May 1977. He served as a Personnel Technician with the 25th
Infantry Division in Hawaii, the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson,
Colorado, the 2nd Armored Division (Forward) at Garlstadt,
Germany, and the 176th Personnel Services Company in Bremerhaven,
Germany. Final active duty assignment was with the Field Systems Division of
the Army’s Personnel Command in charge of SIDPERS-3 development, fielding and
helpdesk assistance.
He retired 1 February 2000, and worked as a
contractor with FC Business Systems under contract to the Product Manager, Army Human
Resource System, at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
He served several years, as Chapter Secretary
and one year as Chapter President of the Pikes Peak Chapter of the U.S. Army
Warrant Officers Association, 1978-1982. Currently serving as Chapter
Treasurer of the Lord Fairfax Silver Chapter, U.S. Army Warrant Officers
Association.
He earned an MBA in Management Information
Systems from Troy State University in 1996, a BS in Business Management from
University College, University of Maryland in 1991, and an AS in Business
Management from Pikes Peak Community College in 1983.
He completed the Army Management Staff College
in 1994, and the Warrant Officer Senior Staff Course in 1998
He formerly served as Vice Chairman of the Board of
Directors and Corporate Vice President of the Warrant Officers Heritage
Foundation (2003-2005).
He is currently serving as Chairman of the
Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of the Warrant Officers Heritage
Foundation (2005-present). He
is a Founding Sponsor of the National
Museum of the U. S. Army.
Mr. Markle is married to Karin Markle of Bremerhaven,
Germany. They have four children and two grandchildren.
