USAWOA Scholarship Foundation Announces 2011/2012 Awards

CW4 (Ret) Robert D. Scott

The Selection Committee spent a long hard day working on Saturday, June 18, 2011 and completed the review of the applications we received for scholarships this cycle.  A total of 30 applications were received, one was not qualified to submit and disallowed.  Of the 29 valid applications we are able to fund fifteen (15) $1,000.00 scholarships based on the funds available.

We thank CW4 (Ret) William R. Buss, Committee Chairman, CW5 (Ret) Ken Fowler, CW5 (Ret) Ken Draper and CW3 Charles A. Conway and CW2 (Ret) Ben F. Gottfried for their yeomen’s service in evaluating, and scoring the applicants.  This is not a simple task and it grows in complexity each year as the submissions become more detailed.

Through the generosity of many folks this year, either through CFC pledges or direct contributions, we are able to provide several different scholarships.  We awarded  the following $1,000.00 scholarships.  Three Allnatt Memorial Scholarships; a “Climb To Glory” Scholarship in memory of CW2 Terry L. Varnadore II, donated by the Thousands Island Chapter, Fort Drum, NY; a Col. Mark Jones Scholarship in honor of Col. Jones, past Commandant of the Warrant Officers Career Collage and donated by the WOCC Staff; and ten USAWOA Foundation Regular Scholarships.  Unfortunately there were no applications for the four-year Grantham University Online Scholarship.
