Benjamin F. Gottfried was born April 13, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA.
He joined the Army Corps of Engineers on March 24, 1959.
In 1973 he switched to the Ordnance Corps in MOS 915A, Automotive Maintenance Technician.
His memorable experiences include holding the position of Officer in Charge of the Motorcade for President Carter's Inauguration Parade; being ambushed in Vietnam in 1970; and receiving his appointment as a Warrant Officer from the grade of Sergeant First Class.
Benjamin retired on March 31, 1979, with 20 year of active service.
His awards include the Bronze Star; Army Commendation Medal; Purple Heart; Meritorious Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Palms; Vietnam Service Medal; Good Conduct, 4th Award; Vietnam Cross of Gallantry; Who is Who in the East 1993-1994, Who is Who in the World 1994-1995.
He married Nancy in 1994 and has one son, Hal.
